Welcome to the official website of The Friends of Burkina Faso!
FBF IS PARTICIPATING IN A FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE BETWEEN NOVEMBER 10-DECEMBER 1, 2009.
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR NOON MEAL IMPROVES GIRLS LEARNING PROJECT TODAY
Dear Friends of Burkina Faso,
I don’t know how many of you are like me but I have watched enough episodes of the Suze Orman Show to know one thing about smart investing—never turn down free money. So, when GlobalGiving gave Friends of Burkina Faso the opportunity to participate in a challenge where our contributions would be matched, we couldn’t turn it down!
And we hope you like money matches as much as we do.
For the next three weeks, the Friends of Burkina Faso has a great way for you to earn free “lunch money” for the young girls of the Lycee Moderne de l’Amitie in northwestern Burkina Faso. Starting today through December 1, FBF will participate in the Give More, Get More Challenge sponsored by our online fundraising partner, GlobalGiving.
The challenge is both straightforward and highly enticing: for ALL donations made to our Noon Meal Improves Girls’ Learning project (up to $500 per individual donor), GlobalGiving will match them. And match them generously.
During this short 3-week competition, the minimum match per donation is 30%. But the more donations we get, the greater the rate of matching. If we reach $2500 in donations, the rate increases to 40%. Once we reach $7500 in donations, the rate jumps up to 50% per donation!
30-50 cents return on every dollar donated—now that is a GREAT return on investment, one I know Suze would readily support.
Why should you invest in our project? Our Noon Meals project provides lunch for 500 school girls at a rate of $.40 per girl per day—girls who walk four miles to and from school with no other source of food during the school day. We believe that a noon meal is essential to students' learning and while the girls’ academic successes aren’t solely due to a regular meal alone, you can’t ignore the impact either. This year, 72% of the students served by our project passed the key exam allowing them to continue their studies. This is almost double the 39% of students in all other schools in the region who passed this same exam.
Remember: The more you give, the more we get. The more we get, the more we give!
Won’t you join us and won’t you encourage your friends, family members, colleagues, and acquaintances to do so as well?! Please click here to donate today!
Thanks for your support and thanks for your smart investment in the bright future of the girls of the Lycee Moderne de l'Amitie.
Kristie
President, Friends of Burkina Faso
