Update #3
Updates by Michael Lavoie
On Wednesday, Jeff Estabrook, APCD, Administrative Officer, invited me to lunch with he and his wife Ruth (both former West African country volunteers) and two kids, at his house about a half mile walk from the PC office. Nice meal of rice and peanut sauce with mangos and salad. And informative discussion about the many benefits of living and working here and their passion for Peace Corps. And his thoughtful invitation and lunch further evidence the warm welcome extended to FBF by BF PC!
Stayed at Simeon's house with his kids and Noelie and Micheline while he tended to church where he is the youth group president. Spoke with his daughters about their school work and the marvelous story of the namtenga well that they never knew. There was a detail about the timing of events in the story that even noelie and simeon did not know. The water came in the night, not in the morning. Only Simeon's father, now deceased, and I would know that. When I saw his father in 2000, the first question he posed me was whether I remembered the story of the well. Of course, I told him, I did.
Stay tuned for more updates!
