Omigbéfitè, loosely translated as “help our brothers,” is an organization of 30 Burkinabé adults located in the village of Loropeni in south-central Burkina Faso. All of the members grew up as an orphan or in a single parent household so they formed their organization nine years ago to aid the younger orphans in the community. |

Friends of Burkina Faso donations have defrayed material costs, enabling Omigbéfitè to build a fence and an irrigation system for a two-hectare garden. The garden, which contains a variety fruits and vegetables (e.g., yams, tomatoes, eggplant, corn, peppers, melons, cabbage, etc.), provides a source of nutrition for everyone affiliated with the Association. Surplus produce is sold in the local market to raise funds to train and school orphans the Association supports. |
